Insidious

Ice cold fear whips away breath
Leaves lungs and hearts and arms bereft
Inhaling the frostbite of a winter day.
Hushed voices sigh conspiratorially
                Partners in crime unintentionally
Left without the words to say
The whispered venom of lonely nights
Of heartache sprawled in the headlights
                                Strangers sweeping the traces away.
Behind name-plated doors the secrets unfold
Surreptitiously guarded to maintain their hold
Unfounded, unfettered, unhindered by the light of day.

  4. Darkness of night and silence both evoke so much uncertainty and fear. Lonely nights can bite for sure.

  7. The loneliness expressed behind those doors.. are we afraid? or do we thrive in loneliness?

This is where you write something so I know you were here. And where I will sometimes write back.
